BICHECTOMY

Bichectomy is a surgical intervention that consists of the removal of Bichat's balls or bags.

Bichat's bags are small fat pads found in the cheeks, under the cheekbones. They are named after Xavier Bichat, the French doctor who identified them at the end of the 18th century. Their function is to act as a cushion for the facial muscles between which they are located.

Bichat's lumps are just fat, not glands. That's why removing them is a relatively quick and simple procedure.
