CHOCOLATHERAPY
WHAT IS IT AND WHAT BENEFITS DOES IT GIVE TO THE BODY?

Cocoa is an ancestral inheritance, the food of the “gods” and it is no wonder. Its grain is highly used in drinks, sweets, foods and cosmetics, but the weakness of all of them is its international presentation as chocolate in all its states.

Chocolate has euphoric and stimulating properties that help combat stress or low mood because it provides a pleasant sensation that is secreted in our brain by activating serotonin.

It can also have benefits for our skin, including our hair through an innovative treatment. In aesthetic medicine it is known as chocolate therapy or chocotherapy, which, as its name indicates, is a therapy that is used with a massage on the body “smearing” chocolate.

In this article, we will expand on the benefits of chocolate therapy on the hair, the body, what it is for and some contraindications.

WHAT IS IT FOR?

Chocotherapy is an aesthetic treatment that serves to tone and hydrate the skin. Its therapeutic purposes reduce the level of stress, providing a feeling of relaxation and peace of mind.

Its main component is pure chocolate. In chocolate therapy sessions, chocolate (sometimes combined with other ingredients) is applied to the body and face through a massage that releases the antioxidants from cocoa into the skin.

HOW CHOCOLATHERAPY IS DONE

It may seem like an eccentricity or something that you do not understand, but the chocolate therapy treatment has a simple application but with parameters for its effectiveness. Each aesthetic center has its own step by step but it does not vary much in general.

  • Exfoliation: The first step is to prepare the skin to remove dirt or grease that clogs the pores so that when you spread the chocolate, the dermis absorbs all the properties of the cocoa.

  • Massage: The mixture is prepared. It must be at an appropriate temperature so that it is not too rigid that it is uncomfortable to touch with the skin, but not excessively hot that it causes damage to the dermis. With this, the massage begins on the patient's entire body and face.

  • Activation: When the massage is finished, the chocolate is allowed to act on the skin so that it transmits its antioxidant properties. Sometimes a protective layer is added to speed up the activation process.

  • Rinse: What happens after you have your body full of chocolate? To finish the chocolate therapy, the patient undergoes a drainage massage to eliminate what remains of the mixture, toxins, dead skin that has been shed, and the skin is hydrated with a cream.

This aesthetic treatment is that relaxing and powerful.
